Jeanne Orme Bethers was born November 17, 1906, in Tooele, Utah, a daughter of Charles Alvin Orme and Ada Madden Dunn. She married Pratt Mcquire Bethers in Salt Lake City, Utah, on September 9, 1929. They moved to Cedar City, Iron County, Utah. Pratt Bethers was a school teacher, principal, and school administrator. Jeanne O. Bethers was the Cedar City correspondent for the Deseret News for many years, and became the Deseret News Bureau Chief for the newspaper over Southern Utah from 1947 to 1964. She was also active in the community as a church and civic worker. She was the first secretary of the Cedar City Coordinating Council, was secretary to the Southern Utah Youth Guidance Committee of the LDS church, and was president of the Southern Utah Associated Women's Clubs from 1938 to 1940. She died on December 25, 1969.
